First of all, graphics have to be ``downloaded" moved from the ``server", where your site lives, to the viewer's PC. This takes time sometimes, if the graphic elements haven't been carefully planned, too much time (thus the remark ``World Wide Wait" !) You want to turn your site visitor ON, not OFF, and, if he or she is a little impatient, or isn't using state-of-the-art tools, provide the viewer with alternatives to waiting for a download. |

Secondly, graphics have to be integrated into your overall site design. Graphics on the Web are even more prominent than in print, or even than on TV, and are NEVER neutral they MUST be functional elements of your site, not just obvious add-ons, or they'll detract from your product story. |
